Nerd Church - Are There Words?

Are there words for what happened last week in Manchester?

Maybe a few: murder; heartbreak; pain; tragedy. But none of them sum it up.

So I'm going to leave you with the words of others:

The lyrics of Ariana Grande, and of the Oasis song Don't Look Back in Anger, which the people of Manchester chose to stand for the city.

'I know what I came to do
And that ain't gonna change
So go ahead and talk your talk
Cause I won't take the bait
I'm over here doing what I like
I'm over here working day and night
And if my real ain't real enough
I'm sorry for ya, bae

Let's find a light inside our universe now'

- Ariana Grande, Focus.

'Step outside, 'cause summertime's in bloom
Stand up beside the fireplace
Take that look from off your face
Cause you ain't ever gonna burn my heart out

And so, Sally can wait
She knows it's too late as she's walking on by
My soul slides away
But don't look back in anger
I heard you say'

- Oasis, Don't Look Back in Anger.

  1. The power of music brings people together. I always get so emotional when I see those videos of people singing at the memorial. It shows community, and a group standing strong for their country.

  2. I didn't know about the lyrics they'd chosen, but I think it's amazing how the city has come together and not let this stop them. And I have such huge respect for Ariana Grande and what she's doing to help the families of those affected. It's just... incredible. Completely awful and heartbreaking but I just can't get over how the city has bounced back and it warms my heart seeing the tributes and memorials on the news, knowing that there are good, caring people out there ready to offer support.

    1. They chose to sing Don't Look Back in Anger - spontaneously - at the memorial. (I picked the Ariana Grande lyrics.)

  3. As a Muslim, I am constantly shocked that someone could ever twist words and claim that my faith is hateful. It's not. Those who commit such violence are not Muslim. They're criminals. I am praying for Manchester, and all the cities in the world that have faced these horrific acts. Love and light to every soul and being.

    1. I didn't realise you're Muslim Dina; I'm so sorry these a*ses are using your religion as a smoke-screen for their awfulness. *Hugs*

  4. This incident shocked me so much. There were young kids in there hoping to have a fun time and see a star they love. And someone bombed the place and turned it into their worst nightmare. It makes me sad and angry and so helpless. I pray for them everyday and I admire that despite the horrific happenings, they're standing together and united by the power of music. The power of the people warms my heart. My prayers to anyone anywhere in the world who has been affected by terrorism, violence and hate.

  5. The event in Manchester was truly horrible... and it left me with no words. Honestly, my heart was hurting. It's only intensified with the recent events of the attack on London Bridge and the stabbings :'(
