Comics Wrap-Up - My Heart Is In Danger From Shadows and Strangers Now

No, I haven't seen Black Panther yet - I'm going to go see it Monday, hopefully! :)

So on with the rest of this week's comics wrap-up:

Film Trailers

I haven't actually read the graphic novel series 'I Kill Giants' but the trailer for the film looks pretty cool:

Graphic Novels

I've been re-reading/catching up on the Blood Stain series by Linda Sejic (who is awesome!) and the Sunstone series by her husband, Stjepan.

I'm hoping to do a sort of mini-review/reading-log type thingummy of all five volumes of Sunstone soon - but I keep doubting myself over the whole 'reviewing the Queer lady BDSM books' thing.

Oh well, we'll see how it turns out.

I'm pretty sure I can make the post entertaining, even for people who have no interest in reading (or are too young to read - it's def. 18+ only,) the books.

I reviewed Volume 1 of Blood Stain about a million years ago (if you click through to that review, please don't judge me too harshly!) and that's how I ended up as mutual/internet-friends with Linda (in a really socially awkward way, lol.)

Other Stuff

Because Thor: Ragnarok is coming out on streaming, Blu-Ray, and all that jazz, Marvel've been releasing some of the extras.

Most are just 'ok' but this intro from director Taika Waititi is awesome-sauce:

Screen Junkies have made an Honest Trailer for Justice League!

And yes, it's funny - although maybe it's a little harsh on Justice League. That film wasn't terrible - no, it wasn't a masterpiece, but it wasn't awful either.

Plus Ezra Miller is a Queer icon, and must be protected at all costs. #TrueStory

Warning: flashing images

And a couple of links from other awesome blogs to finish up for this week:

So, what's your feelings on Justice League? Do you ever worry about talking about 18+ (i.e. sexy) books online?! Lemme know! 😀

  1. I never really got into comics or graphic novels, with the exception of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Death Note. I do like most Marvel and DC films, though. I haven't seen the Justice League yet but would like to and I can't wait to get Ragnarok on DVD. As for reviewing 18+ books, I don't tend to read many of those but I wouldn't mind posting about them. I would probably just word my review in such a way that the contents was hinted at rather than explicit, I guess.

    1. You're missing out! (Lol!) Nah, read whatcha want :)

I thought Justice League was OK - my God, it needed an editor, but it wasn't *awful*. Thor: Ragnarok is awesome!!!!

I've written about 18+ books before... I guess it's that this series is graphic novels, so gets... well... *graphic* - and also I'm still getting used to writing about F/F sex scenes in books, add in BDSM and I guess I'm afraid people will judge me...? Not sure! Just feeling a little weird about it! Lol.

The post will be ok for under-18s anyway. (Not that I'd encourage them! I'm just not banning them, lol.)

  2. Ooh, I had totally missed the trailer for I Kill Giants -- I didn't even know there was going to be a movie of that! Thanks for sharing that, I really dug the comic and I'm interested to see how the movie comes out.

  3. I Kill Giants looks like a good one. I haven't seen Justice League and am really not sure if I will. Those movies are usually fun but nothing great really.

    1. It does look interesting, doesn't it? :)

Justice League is OK but... I think we all had high expectations after Wonder Woman, and it fell into the DC traps we've all grown to loathe! Lol.

    1. I'VE SEEN IT NOW SO DON'T SCREAM!!!! Due to the flu, me and The Bestie had to re-schedule a couple of times! (Plus, she's my ride - the nearest cinema is out of town.)
