Nerd Church - Some of My Favourite Welsh-Language Music

It's St. David's Day/Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant on Thursday, so I figured I'd give you guys some of my favourite Welsh-language music to listen to :)

I originally wrote this list on Twitter, for Welsh Language Music Day/Dydd Miwsig Cymru, on 9th February/Chwefror - but it's a pretty good list, if I do say so myself, so I thought I'd share it here too.

(And yes, I love Yws Gwynedd - they are most definitely Roc a Rôl as far as I'm concerned 😎)

So here are some of my faves - I hope you enjoy them! :)

Candelas - Anifail

Daniel Lloyd a Mr Pinc - Goleuadau Llundain

And something more traditional to finish:

Llangollen male voice choir singing Oes Gafr Eto? (Cyfri'r Geifr) in some random pub somewhere. I forget the verse, but can sing the chorus even faster than this (fast is the point!)

I used to looooove singing this as a kid! XD

Do you guys listen to music in non-English languages? What do you thing of these fab. Welsh songs?

  1. Thanks for sharing Cee! I think it’s awesome that you listen to non English songs because there’s so many great songs out there from other countries that are very overshadowed.

    1. Welsh is not an easy language - so I tend to listen to music in Cymraeg to aid my skill (somehow! Lol.) Apart from that, Welsh-language music is not very commercial (i.e. there's no money in it!) so I feel like we need to support people who write songs in Welsh when and where we can :)

Thanks for the comment Em :)

  2. Of course, I couldn't understand any of it, but I love the sounds of the Welsh language. And the videos are really fun!

    1. I'm glad you enjoyed it! :) I only partially understand it, no worries! Welsh is my second language because language politics, and it's not that easy to learn! (The music vids help though!)

  3. We like Gruff Rhys Allweddellau Allweddol in our house. We don't speak Welsh though so any meaning is lost on us, we just like the tune!

Thank you for joining in with #RVHT, I hope you can come back tonight!
