Micropoetry - May 2018

It seems we still have some May stuff to finish off my darling nerdlets!

So, I have some more Micropoetry for you! Like last month, I've made up some graphic-y image-y things for two of them.

No promises for the future - this is totally a 'when I feel like it/when I have time' thing, but I hope you like the graphics anyway!

If you're using a screen reader, the poems with graphics have the poetry itself as the alt text, with / marks showing the line breaks.

Micropoetry - April 2018

Yes, it's halfway through the month before I'm doing last month's Micropoetry round-up-type-thing, but I have an excuse this time!

Due to my laptop breaking on the last day of April, I got a bit behind on post-writing (and let's face it, I was hardly Ms Punctual to begin with!)

So here we are in the middle of May, looking at April's Micropoetry!

I've done something a little different this month - some of my Micro-poems are in a graphics-type format.

I'm not sure whether this is something I'm going to carry on with, or even if I'll have time to do it again for other months, but I thought I'd give it a shot!

The poems are in the alt-text of the images, with / symbols showing the line breaks, for anyone using a screen-reader. 😊

Micropoetry - March 2018

I'm actually doing a Micropoetry wrap-up before the middle of the month!

(No-one is more surprised that me!)

Micropoetry - February 2018

Yes, I know, I know, I always end up posting these half-way through the next month. But it's because I'm awesome, obviously 😎

There's a huge mix of poems this month, because my head is clearly a randomly varied place 😅

Here's my Micropoetry, then, from February:

Anxiety vs Blogger

(Warning: This post is about depression and Anxiety, and the demonstration of a negative thought spiral.)

First off: I'm OK. I've had a rough-ish few days (not too bad, but bad enough,) but I'm OK.

There is no need to worry about me.

Sometimes, much as blogging has saved my life, it can contribute negatively to my mental health.

I don't need to take an extended break - honestly, I'm fine. I love blogging just as much as I ever have, and, overall, it's good for me.

And the problem wasn't really blogging - it was the Anxiety.

But I did need to 'write it out.' This is the result of that.

Micropoetry - January 2018

Yes, it's half-way through February. But when has that ever stopped me from doing a Micropoetry wrap-up? 😎

Here, then, is the Micropoetry I wrote in January:

(Quick warning: the one for 22nd January came out as more of a downer than I intended!)

Micropoetry - November 2017

Yes, I know, I know, November seems like a distant memory by this point.

I was busy, ok? (Like, reeeeeeallly busy!) So I haven't had chance to finish up this post 'til now.

But that's ok - the poetry's still the same! XD

Here it is, hope you like it:

Micropoetry - October 2017

Note to self: try and get the micropoetry wrap-up done before the middle of the next month 😅

...my time-keeping skills suck.

Hopefully my poetry skills make up for it 😎

(See what I did there? Lol. I'm such a dork! 😁)

Micropoetry - September 2017

OK, I know it's half-way through October, but unfinished business and all the jazz!

So let's un-unfinish this unfinished business! Here's all the micropoetry I wrote in September:

Micropoetry - August 2017

I wrote three pieces of micropoetry in August, and somehow they seem a little... different to what I usually write...?

I think I like them though - they're strong (if I do say so myself, lol.)

Whether they're good is another question; decide for yourself:

Micropoetry - July 2017

No, you are mistaken. This Micropoetry July wrap-up post is not late, it's been fashionably delayed.

All the cool kids agree 😎

So, here they are, my poems from July:

Friday Fics Fix - Fanfiction in Koru Mag

Do you want to read a whooooole magazine issue inspired by fanfiction and fan art and all that jazz, including a fic by your dear darling book nerd (i.e. me)?

Of course you do! Why in hell's name wouldn't you?!*

*Don't answer that.

Micropoetry - June 2017

I know we're a little over a week into July, but we still have some unfinished business with June!

So, let's just get straight to it!

Here's my micropoetry from June:

Micropoetry - May 2017

Somehow I only ended up writing two pieces of micropoetry in May.

So it's a good thing that I also gave you an 'Unseen Verse' post!

I hope you like this month's output - reduced though it is - quality, not quantity, after all!

Saturday 27 May 2017

Micropoetry - Unseen Verse

I promised some of my micropoetry that's never been published before - even on Twitter.

So I've got you some. :)

These poems have been languishing in my notebook for far too long. It's time to let them fly into the world and be read by you, my dearest nerdlets (Me? Nervous? ...Maybe a little.)

Micropoetry - April 2017

Here's the micropoetry I wrote in April!

I'm planning on posting one or two other micropoetry posts very soon, since people seemed to think it was a good idea when I suggested it last month.

I was going to do it in April, but, *shrugs* life happens. So I'm hoping to get at least one done by the end of May. (Emphasis on hoping!)

Micropoetry - March 2017

The end of March means that it's time for the wrap-up of my micropoetry!

(Yes, the same micropoetry that I inflict on my Twitter followers throughout the month, collected into one handy-dandy blogpost!)

Micropoetry - February 2017

You know the drill by now - and if you don't, here's the low-down:

I write micropoetry on Twitter and once a month I put it all together in a wrap-up post :) Got that? Awesome! On to the poetry!

Wednesday 1 February 2017

Micropoetry - January 2017

Ok, January 2017's micropoetry by yours truly.

There's only 3 pieces this month because I've been uber-busy with work, personal stuff, and #DisabilityDiaries2017

20th January
Strength.
Not shouting the loudest.
Not hating the most.
But loving all you can.
Getting back up.
Facing another day.
That's strength.

25th January
You do not understand
As I take you gently by the hand
& tell you
no
& try to stop you pushing the knife
further into me than you have

28th January
But my dears,
The rain
Is just the part
Of the sky
That we can touch.
And
That touches us.

The Writer Diaries - Micropoetry, December 2016

January may have rung in, bringing 2017 with it, but I'm sure I won't be alone in having 2016 business outstanding.

So, to that end, let's get one piece of that business done and dusted, shall we?

This is all the micropoetry I wrote in December. I've grouped the poems for the 9th and 12th together because they're sort of... companion poems.

Hope you like it!

flourish

1st December
bee and strawberry
I remember
That she said to me
'Honey,
I'm a worker bee,
but the taste
is not so sweet,
as it should be.'

flourish

9th December

diamondA silent agreement
That we would give our hearts to each other
but each keep our own.
I knew & you knew.
We knew we'd never speak of it

12th December

We danced in serious nonsense
Words of Narnia & diamond smuggling
They thought we were fools
& we knew that our game was reality's mask

flourish

15th December

crow in tree

There was a murmur,
A rustle in the secret-keeping trees,
And our open secret turned out to be the tragic truth.
Your death killed her.

flourish

29th December

city Red Riding HoodWhen we grew up
We learned
That the woods are full of big bad wolves
And we must defend Red Riding Hood
With sticks and stones

flourish

31st December

thanks written in scrabble tilesTo you
You incredible people,
Who made me feel worth something
Who made me smile
Who inspired me & kept me going
Happy New Year
