Since my To-Be-Read (TBR) list is continually growing, from time to time I like to throw together a list focussing on some of the (often diverse) titles on there.
This Cursed House by Del Sandeen
This is a Southern Gothic novel from a Black author, and with a Black main character.
Set in the 60s, it sees the psychic/medium-type-person Jemma move from Chicago to New Orleans, to work for the Duchon family (in a non-psychic capacity, from what I can tell.) The White-passing Duchons, however, are under some sort of family curse, and, unbeknown to Jemma, are hoping she'll be the one to break it.
This looks like secrets upon secrets, and a creepy vibe.
House of Bone and Rain by Gabino Iglesias
I'm a big fan of Gabino Iglesias on Twitter, and am super-happy this book is doing well.
Set in Puerto Rico, this about five friends seeking revenge for the murder of one of their mothers. Only, it seems to get really weird, really fast.
...And you know, I'm always here for really weird, really fast. 😅
Home Is Where the Bodies Are by Jeneva Rose
Three siblings dealing with their late mother's estate find a box of old VHS home movies... what could possibly go wrong? 😉
So... they find footage of what looks like their parents being involved in a murder. Fun times! (Lol.)
