Friday Fics Fix - Greek Chorus

Occasionally, I remember that I'm a book blogger (I know, right? Shocker!) and find a suitably book-related fic to recommend to you, my lovely nerdlets.

This week, I was lucky - I didn't have to look that hard.

Some weeks I literally have to trawl through soooooo many fics, and it takes me hours to find one decent enough to rec. to you all (seriously, I love fanfiction, but there's some utter cr*p out there.)

Plus, you know me, I love bringing you things which make you think - new takes on characters and storylines, deeper examinations of events, diverse rep. that we often just don't get in mainstream stuff.

This week, though, I stumbled across a fic based on a novel I absolutely love - The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller.

I know that a lot of people are with me on the whole 'love this book,' thing. But I also get that some people don't like it - I totally get and respect that; it's not perfect. But I still love it.

I also love this fic.

Yes, ok, it's completely and utterly saccharine-sweet, and I'm normally not big on over-sentimentality but... IT'S. SO. PRECIOUS!!!! 😭😭😭

It doesn't really give any spoilers either, tbh.

It's slightly awkwardly written in places though, so language purists - you've totally been warned!

Seriously though - this is based around the idea of Achilles and Patroclus being reincarnated in the modern age, so that they can find each other again!

If you've read the book, you'll know how utterly beautiful that idea is!

This week's fic, then, is:

A Thousand Lifetimes by healthywounds

  3. Aw, that's fun! I love it when books have excellent fics -- I feel like very often it is hard to find wondrous fic going with most books. So yay, I will check it out straightaway although I secretly was mad at Song of Achilles for everyone loving it so much and forgetting about my original Old Time Greek Fiction author, Mary Renault. :p

    1. It is strange how little fanfiction there is out there for books (outside of things like Harry Potter, ofc.)

I hope you enjoy/ed it! XD
