Friday Fics Fix - Some Lovely Steve and Bucky Goodness

'And here Bucky was, living his whole life slightly out of step and just now realising it, because no one had ever told him so.

Slightly out of step.

Different.'

Sometimes, you find fics which were written just for you, ya know?

My dearest nerdlets, a fic with Bucky Barnes (from the MCU/Marvel movies etc.) as a sad Queer boi with synaesthesia and migraines? This thing was written for me - no question.

Nerd Church - Learn ALL The Languages!

I really like languages, OK?

I like to play with them, twist them, turn them, taste them, learn them.

(And yes, I do literally mean taste them - synaesthesia.)

So... I put Duolingo on my phone a while back. (Not sponsored - sadly.)

It wasn't a 'New Year's Resolution' type deal-y. I don't do those, and besides, it was late last year when I randomly decided to get Duolingo.

Friday Fics Fix - In A Sense

'Bucky sucks in a crushed breath. Orange-black and pinned like butterfly wings.'

This fic is so beautifully written.

And you should all know by now that when I find a beautifully written fic, I'm gonna rec it!

Month in Review(s) - November 2018

Maybe you should all just assume that it wasn't a good month, unless I tell you differently? ๐Ÿ˜…

It'll save a lot of time and make me feel like I'm whining a lot less!

'It's A Superpower!' - A Discussion On Synaesthesia With Evelina From Avalinah's Books

Synaesthetes are basically superheroes. (I’ve decided. #DealWithIt.)

We have two or more senses linked together - for example, some of us see music, or feel colours - and we each generally view the world in our unique way!

So what happens when one Synnie comes across another?

And what happens if they both happen to be book bloggers?

Will they write the longest post either of them has ever written in a random ramble of awesomeness?

Welp, we’re about to find out! ๐Ÿ˜‰

On Dora Reads today we have the amazing-ful Evelina from Avalinah’s Books - a fellow Synnie and all around awesome-sauce person! ๐Ÿ˜†

Friday Fics Fix - The Sense of Things

I found a fic which has synaesthesia in it dammit!!!!

For those of you who don't know, synaesthesia is: a) a melding or running together of two senses, and b) something that I have.

Friday Fics Fix - Overloaded

Sensory overload can occur with several different disabilities.

Most commonly, it occurs with ADHD, Autism, Fibromyalgia, and Anxiety Disorders. It can also occur with migraines and many other conditions.

I get it with migraines (and I'm going to be honest, the Anxiety and the synaesthesia probably don't help with this.) It is a freaking b**ch.

Nerd Church - The Book Eater

Confession time: to me the term 'book eater' isn't exactly a metaphor.

Don't panic! I do not, in fact, actually chew, swallow, and consume books. There is no paper in my stomach (as far as I'm aware!)

But I taste books.

Not just books - words, sentences, paragraphs. All of them roll around on my tongue with their various flavours.

And for a long time, I figured everyone else was the same. It's only in recent years that the sneaking suspicion has crept in - other people don't taste words.
