Nerd Church - 17 Becomes 18

So 2017 is ending. We tried, but in the end it followed 2016 into the sh**-pile of history.

But that doesn't mean we should give up on 2018. Because 2018 can do better. 2018 can pick itself up, dust itself off, and prove that doom and gloom isn't inevitable.

Because even in 2017, there was hope.

There were fantastic, beautiful, people trying to make things better.

There was the amazing success of The Hate You Give (THUG) by Angie Thomas and other diverse books and films, there were movements both online and offline, there were people being decent human beings to one another.

And while there's that, there's hope.

Hope and love are the most beautiful things on this Earth my nerdlets - they're also the most powerful, and the most difficult to eradicate.

Hope finds a way. Love finds a way. They will always find a way.

One thing I've learnt above all in my life, is that you have to get back up again.

Life will knock you. And it's ok to rest, to recover. But you pick yourself up, you dust yourself off, and you keep going.

Because in the end? Every time you get back up, hope and love win. And you have the chance to make the world just that little bit better.

So here's to a new one guys - we're gonna f**king rock it!

  6. I hope that so far the new year has been good to you! I have seen a lot of things about how terrible 2017 was and I can't really revoke that idea because it is so true. But there were a lot of good things that happened too and I like to not forget those. I hope more of them come through in the coming year as well ;)
