The 11 Year Blog Anniversary Post!

Warning: brief references to grief/loss and mental health problems

Title: 11 Years of Blogging! Background: artsy stars

Yes! Dora Reads is now eleven years old.

...Somehow I've made it this far!

It's no secret that it's been a really hard year for me - I lost my mother in February and... we've been through some pretty awful stuff, as a family.

My mental health hasn't been great, either.

So, it's been hard. Sometimes it's been hard to do literally anything.

...I think I've come closer this year to giving up on blogging than I have for a long time - maybe ever.

And I haven't been able to commit myself to things like regular posting, meaning that most of my blogpost series are on indefinite pause.

Because my brain is unpredictable, quite frankly. I'm (metaphorically) running hard just to keep from going under, y'know?

And because it's me, I've also got a whole lot of other stuff going on which I simultaneously think is too much for me, and not as much as I 'should' be doing...

Trying to do all the things I want to do without exhausting myself is a perennial problem for me, but I'm working on keeping things as balanced as I can.

Baby steps, dearest nerdlets. Always baby steps. As frustrating as my impatient butt finds that to be 😅

I'm doing my best - and that's what matters.

Basically: I'm not going anywhere.

But Dora Reads is gonna be a one-or-two posts per month blog for an indeterminate amount of time, with one of those posts (usually) being a Nerd Church post.

I'm hoping to increase that at some point, but I'm not gonna put pressure on myself for it right now.

Ironically, I think that 2025 has been the most consistently bookish this blog has been in almost a decade

- but that just means that my brain isn't wondering whether it 'counts' as a book blog (...for now, anyway.)

Still, I'm kind of pleased with the posts that I've managed to come up with this year - and hopefully you liked them too, dearest nerdlets.

And I'm super-duper grateful to all of you who read, follow, share, and/or comment (- that last one is a real morale boost to bloggers, just FYI 😘) whether that's here on Dora Reads, on Twitter (yes, it's still Twitter,) Medium, or Pinterest - thanks everyone, for being freaking awesome.

Take care of yourselves, OK? You rock.

  1. You're just one year younger than me...as a blogger, that is 😂 😉. Happy blogoversary! I hope loosing up your schedule does you good, and gives you the time and space to heal...as much as it's possible for you to.
