Nerd Church - Prioritising Stuff

Prioritising Stuff

Sometimes you have to take a look at your task list, and prioritise in order to get sh** done.

Sometimes we have to prioritise stuff that we’d rather not prioritise in order to free up time/energy for other stuff later.

(As annoying as that can be when you just wanna starfish on your sofa and wait for the summer to end so that you can freaking think again. …I really hate the heat, can you tell?)

Sometimes, stuff that you really would rather prioritise has to take a backseat for boring adulting stuff. (Boo!)

Unfortunately, there are times when stuff that’s more important to you has to go on hold because of time constraints, just because life is like that.

That doesn’t mean you abandon the stuff you love, neither does it mean you have to feel guilty for doing one thing when you ‘should’ be ‘keeping your time for [insert thing here] sacred.’

That’s productivity guru BS, and you know, dearest nerdlets, that I don’t truck with productivity guru BS! 😅

What I’m trying to say, end of the freaking day, is it’s OK to muddle through using your resources — your time, your energy, your brainpower — in whatever way seems right in that moment.

I know I’ve said it before, but I’m a big fan of going for the low-hanging fruit — it’s there to sustain you until you have the time, skill, and energy needed to try for the higher branches.

It’s OK. That’s what hooman beans do — we adapt to the situation.

Will we always get it right? I wish I could say yes, but no.

But we need to not beat ourselves up about that either — we’re doing our best, y’know?

The one thing that we need to try (key word right there,) to keep prioritising, though, over most other stuff is self-care.

And I don’t mean the candles and yoga type of self-care (but if that’s your thing then you do you! No hate here.)

No, I mean the basics: eating, drinking, showering, sleeping, going to the toilet, attempting to find a form of exercise that won’t let the sun burn you to a crisp and/or dehydrate you… (bring on the winter, seriously.)

Take care of yourselves, dearest nerdlets. And do your best to prioritise.

Take that low-hanging fruit, and go starfish on the sofa; I’m rooting for you.

The next Nerd Church will be September 6th 2026 - hope to see you there!
