Friday Fics Fix - This Is An Angst-Fest

'Tony Stark had, until now, been having a good day.'

I'm not gonna lie: this is an angst-fest.

This is pure, premium, 'should we be worried about fic authors?' angst.

...Which is why I love it, ofc. 😅

OK, this is not FrostIron (unfortunately,) but it does focus on the interactions between Tony Stark and Loki.

Tony finds Loki in a helluva mess - blinded, possibly dying - and, in typical fanfiction-style, ends up taking him home to take care of him, and not telling anyone else.

...In fact, he's actively misleading Nick Fury over all this (which made me laugh, tbh - Tony's such a d**k for the greater good in this fic.)

Because... reasons. Whatever reasons you happen to need for the fic to work. (This is a whole-a** fandom trope, and I will go down with it should you ask me to 😅)

(Fandom notes:

FrostIron is a romantic and/or sexual relationship between Tony and Loki.

Tropes are not-quite-a-theme, not-quite-a-genre, but a story element that follows a pattern of some sort - like that one episode every action show has where the characters end up in a hostage situation? That's a trope.)

This fic most certainly involves SPOILERS from phase 1/phase 2 (the early stuff) of the MCU.

It also relies on MCU fanon - basically establishing that the events of Avengers: Assemble weren't Loki's fault.

(Fandom notes:

Fanon is a fan theory that's now so widely accepted, it's treated as canon ('official' stuff) by the fandom as a whole.

(I wrote a whole explanation-thing on Medium, if you're still confused - or just ask me, I only bite in specific situations.))

What you can mostly expect from this fic is an angst-y, uber-dramatic, sickfic, with much the hurt/comfort.

(...Look, this is my emo goblin spaghetti brain, and I needed the dark + gothic sh**! 😅)

So, since we're covering a lot of the angst-y ground, here are your Content Warnings:

- aftermath of torture

- discussions of torture

- acid blinding

- serious injury

- suicidal ideation

- passive suicidality

- abuse within families

- family issues in general (because Loki)

- internalised sci-fi racism (species-ism?)

- extremely low self-worth/self-esteem

...I think that's everything, but I could easily have forgotten something, so always #ReadSafe my dearest nerdlets!

This week's fic, then, is:

Through the Shards of a Broken Mirror by Stellophia
