This is an Our Flag Means Death (OFMD) crack fic -
- in so much as you can get a crack fic for this show, given that if the actual canon were written by a fan creator, it would most definitely be classed as a crack fic.
As I mentioned a few weeks ago, OFMD is also known as The Gay Pirate Show - because it has gay pirates.

Crack fics are fics which are batpoop bizarre - they are 'cracked.' They're usually absurd, random, or just plain weird. They rarely make sense.
Canon is the 'official' stuff in a book/film/TV show/whatever.)
This fic picks up after series 1 of OFMD - so beware of SPOILERS in said fic, m'k? - and is focussed on Blackbeard's first mate and second-in-command, Izzy Hands.
(I would like to mention that I have yet to come across fanfiction referring to Izzy Hands having busy hands, which I feel is a missed opportunity on multiple levels. If you know of any fics using this phrase, let me know!)

Izzy is a very love-to-hate character, and as such fandom adores him.
(It also helps that the actor who plays him, Con O'Neill, is such a legend whenever he appears in interviews, on socials, etc.)
So, in this fic Stede Bonnet and Blackbeard decide that the way to bring their two crews together into one happy semi-functional Queer pirate family is to... put on a ship-wide production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Which... is crack.
But also not much of a stretch for canon, in all honesty.
I mean... Buttons is a character in canon, and this is not incompatible with a world in which Buttons, Karl, and Olivia exist, now, is it? 😉
This fic exists as an excuse to dress up Lucius and Izzy in dresses and get them to kiss while reciting Shakespeare.
...That's not an exaggeration. It's literally what the author says in their author's note.
And I for one am fully behind this plan 😎
