Comics Wrap-Up - In Any Given Situation

 

It's Thursday, it's a leap day, this is Dora Reads - let's get some comics-y superhero-y goodness!

What If... The Writers Definitely Read Fanfic?

I watched episode 2.7 of Marvel's What If...? titled 'What If... Hela Found the Ten Rings?'

- which sees Odin's first-born being banished to Midgard instead of Hel, and landing literally in the middle of the Ten Rings army (from Shang-Chi.)

There's a common trope in Marvel-based fanfiction called 'Odin's A+ Parenting.'

...Which basically means that the MCU's Odin should never have had a hand in raising children. Because he always picks the wrong thing to do with any of his children in any given situation.

This episode is 100% an Odin A+ Parenting scenario.

But it's OK - Hela's out on her own and spending time in an ancient wellness retreat to get her head sorted out so... it's fine? I guess? 

And (mild SPOILER): she ends up on a date with Shang-Chi's dad, Wenwu? Who totally has a thing for her?

This was a weird episode.

And it's only serving to prove to me further that the writers definitely read fanfiction.

I'm sorry - they read it, they write it, they possibly live it. 😅
