Friday Fics Fix - A Time-Loop Rec-List

 

...ironically, I thought I'd already done a rec-list on time-loops. I had not. 😅

I'm actually not a huge fan of time-loop fics.

If you don't know what a time-loop is - think Groundhog Day, or Happy Death Day, OK? OK.

In order for me to like it, a time-loop fic usually has to have a little something quirky to it - otherwise I get bored.

...So these aren't likely to be straight-forward, just a head's up!

No Consequences, No Hangovers by jedusaur

The basic premise, here, is that Clint Barton - aka Marvel's Hawkeye - is reliving a very stressful day.

Like - it just had to be the day where the Avengers end up fighting weird interdimensional bionic rats, he spends five hours tied up on a goddamn boat back-to-back with Bucky Barnes and without his hearing aids, and there is No. Coffee.

No coffee.

None.

How is he supposed to deal with that?! #Nightmare

This fic is really fun and clever - and also involves a relationship between Clint and Bucky Barnes.

That's not a relationship you see that often in fanfiction, and I love it here - it's done really well.

So this is The Umbrella Academy (TUA) time loop fanfiction.

The basics here is that Klaus is woken up to the ghost version of Ben being like, 'Time loop, dude! Time. Loop. Do something, because I'm the only one who remembers and I am bored.'

And Klaus is like... 'but I don't wanna ...do we have any muffins left?' 😂

Honestly, I can't say too much more about this fic, except that I did not expect it to take the direction it did.

...Anything else, and I risk spoiling it for you, which I don't wanna do.

A Fate That Befell Me by bythelightofthenight

Where would any time-loop fic list be without Ready or Not?

For reasons unknown, the fandom gods decided, long ago (in internet terms,) that the majority of Ready or Not? fics would, in fact, be time-loop fics.

Does the film have literally anything to do with time-loops? No.

Does fandom give a sh**? Also no.

Fandom has decreed time-loop fics, so time-loop fics is what we have! 😅

In defence of the fandom, this film's all-in-one-night setting absolutely lends itself it to time-loops, and the creative fandom-brain has noticed this and freaking run with it!

I love the reasoning behind why the time-loop exists in this one - so often, the fic author doesn't give any explanation at all, and it's always nice when things actually make goddamn sense.

Also awesome was the understanding of the characters in this fic, and the exploring of the relationship between the Le Domas brothers - Alex and Daniel.

It wasn't done in a preachy way, but it explored a lot of things about the affects of traumatic childhood, how much people in sh**ty situations should be held responsible, etc.

- Fanfiction is deceptively deep dearest nerdlets, we know this 😜😎
