Nerd Church - Spread a Little Love

You wanna change the world my nerdlets?

It seems like it needs some changing at the moment.

Between Trump's Muslim ban (yes, it is a Muslim ban, quit fooling yourselves) and all the other sh** going on right now, it can seem like there's no hope.

But that's not true - there's always hope.

jam jars with heart lids
Spread love... get it? 😄

So how can you change the world, right now?

Welp, you can spread the love.

Sounds simple, doesn't it? Well it is. And it isn't.

When everything's dragging you down, when the world is full of ill-feeling, spreading love and positivity can be the hardest thing of all.

But that's exactly when we need it the most.

When the bigotry of the world is dragging me down, I make a point of purposefully boosting the voices of diverse and marginalised folks.

I retweet diverse creators. I double-down on reading diverse books. I sign online petitions. I send positive messages to people.

To put it bluntly, I try.

(If I lived in the US, I'd also be contacting my elected representatives right now to express my disgust. #JustSaying.)

Because one person can change the world, my darling, darling, nerdlets.

Put together the efforts of every single 'one person' in the history of this weird li'l species of ours, and you get the most powerful force in the world.

One person is all it takes.

And it doesn't have to be a lot - just do what you can.

Take a small piece of this weight from someone else's shoulders for a while.

And when you get tired? Rest, and rest well. Let someone else take up the weight for a little while. Come back when you can and take up the strain again.

Yes, yes, I know - my hippie upbringing is definitely showing.

(My mother blew a kiss to a tree the other day, so I honestly can't be blamed for that. #JustSaying.)

That doesn't make it any less true though, does it?

Are you with me my nerdlets? Do you have any plans for spreading the love? Talk to me! ❤💬

  1. I know exactly how you feel, Cee! Idk how much you know about Canadian politics but my province of Ontario just elected its leader, man who is none other but a baby Trump. (He even supported Trump in the US elections.) He has already cut back on funding for LGBT youth as well as free prescriptions for low income families. My plan to spread love is to write letters to my representatives and tell them that these plans are discriminatory and wrong. Every little bit helps.

    1. I literally just know your president is Trudeau. And that my mother campaigned against seal hunting in the 70s, so is probably on a no-entry list somewhere. (Lol. This is where I get it from.)

But yeah, that dude sounds horrible. Like, those things are bad. I don't understand why countries don't have free prescriptions generally. Although, not even England does I suppose. I'm just lucky to be in Wales :)

SPREAD THE LOVE EM!!! You campaign and write and all that stuff! You're awesome! XD

  2. Yep, it always feels like what can I, one little person, do? But all the one persons out there add up to lots of persons :-)

  3. It feels like showing love is such a small thing but it really can make such a big different. Little acts of kindness, acceptance and love make such a big change. I am glad that love is a message you spread around and across so much. It's important!
