Month In Review(s) - May 2023

May was hard. May was very hard.

But that's actually an improvement as far as 2023 goes, for me.

No-one in my life - including both pets and humans - died, nearly died, or had a life-changing diagnosis, so it's all good.

And, unlike last year, I did not catch Covid, so we're calling it a win.

(I need the win, OK? I'm so tired.)

Oh, and hayfever sucks.

Like - I can't just have regular hayfever, I have to have regular hayfever plus have to wear a scarf or thick alice band in my hair to keep the pollen off my scalp because my skin allergies and my pollen allergies decided a few years ago that they were gonna have a super-villain team-up and haven't stopped since.

...Basically, I get hives under my hair, and an itchy-burning feeling on my scalp, if I don't wear something in my hair to stop the pollen getting in it.

As well as all the usual hayfever symptoms - eyes, sneezing, etc.

Fun times. At least I've found hayfever tablets that make it a little better.

On a happier note - there were collared doves nesting in my satellite dish!!!

That's not code - they decided that's a good nesting site. They had two wee babbies, who have just left the nest, and it was beautiful!!!! 😁😁😁

Quick housekeeping notes:

Comics Wrap-Up returned in May.

Friday Fics Fix took a break, so won't be linked below.

Nerd Church is taking a break in June.

(*pushes back self-doubts over giving regular series(eses) a break so that I have some breathing room* 😅)

  2. I get such a sense of zen from watching the birds in my backyard, so I'm glad you have some feathered visitors to keep you company. I had an eventful start to June as my husband had to spend some days in the ICU. Thankfully he's much better and is on a solid plan of treatment, but it was a really terrifying week.

  3. I'm sorry about the overall horribleness of 2023, but glad May wasn't like previous months, all things considered. Awww what a lovely story of the doves :) A duck laid a nest in a local winery near my house and they put caution tape around her so ppl wouldn't bother her lol.

    1. Lol, cute! A duck randomly turned up in our back garden once - except it was clearly like, a pet duck, not a wild one. So my neighbours ended up taking it to the local vets, who said they'd phone around all the people they knew with ducks and either find where it came from or find it somewhere new.
