Comics Wrap-Up - Particular Points

Title: Comics Wrap-Up. Background: lined-notebook-style with speech bubbles containing heart symbols

It's Thursday, I'm tired, this is Dora Reads - so let's get some comics-y superhero-y goodness!

I'm Probably Watching X-Men '97...

By the time you read this, I'm probably knee-deep (or at least planning to be,) in X-Men '97. (So, so, so looking forward to this series!)

Will I talk about it here in CWU? I dunno.

There's very little planning goes into these posts beyond 'what do I wanna talk about?' these days.

There was a period of time when I tried to cover all the trailers and TV series and superhero-related-news I could, but that got both stressful and boring.

So these days I mostly wing it - sometimes that means that I end up covering each episode of a TV series, sometimes it means I talk about particular points in them that I want to address or whatever.

And sometimes it means I don't talk about a series (or film or whatever,) at all - just because sometimes it's nice to have things for yourself, y'know? (Or because I have nothing to say - it's been known to happen! 😅)

Hopefully you all prefer these slightly more in-depth, winging-it posts, than you did the posts where I was stressing myself out trying to cover every little thing of interest in a given week.

(If you don't, sorry, but I'm not going back to the way it was!)

The Crow Returns...

There's a trailer for the remake of The Crow!

Woo!

Is it the best trailer on earth? No.

Am I gonna let that stop me from watching it? Also no.

Will I be judging it against the original instead of letting it stand on its own merits? That's a big NO.

Warning: flashing images, some sexy-times content, GRAPHIC violence - including gun violence, blood, murder

I'm a massive fan of The Crow - the original graphic novel, the film, the Stairway to Heaven TV series (look it up - it rocked.)

So, I know for a fact that they've been trying to remake it for years - heard it from the man himself, graphic novelist James O'Barr, when I met him at Cardiff Comic Con way back when.

At the time, O'Barr said the studio was trying to work things out with Luke Evans to play Eric, which is why he was in Wales.

(That would have been awesome, not gonna lie.)

So, the 'it should never have been rebooted because the original is sacred,' crowd, in my opinion, need to chill.

There are some things I'm not sure about in the trailer - the relatively small plot point changes, for example, could be great or awful depnding on where and how far they take it.

But it deserves to be judged on its own merits, y'know?

And I'm totally gonna watch it! 😊

Shameless Self-Promo Time!

Over on Medium, I talked about the 'What If... Hela Found The Ten Rings?' episode of Marvel's What If...?, which you can see here...

...or you can see that same talky-talk on CWU here on Dora Reads here.

And last week's Friday Fics Fix talked fanfiction based on the Loki TV series; you can see that post here.

Are you a fan of The Crow?

Any thoughts on the remake? (Or on remakes in general?)

Talk to me! 😊💬
