Month In Review(s) - December 2023 + January 2024

And 2023 is OUT OF HERE!!!!

And thank whoever's listening for that.

Because, in case you weren't aware, my 2023 effing sucked.

December 2023 & January 2024: Rhagfyr 2023 & Ionawr 2024

And yes, this is another two-month wrap-up.

(...and it's towards the end of February, but we're gonna gloss over that.)

No, I did not intend it to be...

...but I'm also not gonna sweat it too much - helping a parent recover from major surgery while also helping to care for the other parent, care for an elderly cat with dementia, and also run my own business, learn to drive, do my taxes, run all the socials etc. for this blog and my Medium account...

...yeah. I'm not gonna panic if one very stressful plate amongst the numerous I'm juggling gets dropped from time to time.

No, really I'm not gonna stress about it...

I'm not.

(...I'm trying not to.)

Look, my mental health has, understandably, not been great either.

And my migraines have always been stress-related so... that's been fun.

So I've been trying very, very, hard to cut myself some slack.

Not sure it's working, but I'm trying, at least!

Anyway, as an unexpected good thing - both my parents were home for Christmas!

One of them had major surgery in late December (like, the kind where the actual surgery lasts all day,) and was due to be in hospital over Christmas until at least Boxing Day, but they were allowed home on Christmas Eve!

Best present ever

I cannot describe how much having them home meant.

And not only did nothing go wrong with the surgery, but the recovery's gone way better than expected.

...But man is it stressful.

So honestly, my hope for 2024 is that it doesn't suck as much as 2023 did.

...Mixed results, so far.

Yikes. How on earth have you managed not to break? Girl, 2024 needs to start behaving...

    1. Ha, I always feel bad when I explain it because it feels like I make it sound worse than it is... then I remember that I minimise sh** a *lot* and it's probably closer to what it sounds like. Or maybe it's somewhere in between, who knows? And I'm pretty sure after a decade or more of one thing after another, broken is pretty much my default (lol.)

And yes, they are! Thanks so much <3

My judgement of what is and is not hard work is terminally broken, but thanks! :)
