Friday Fics Fix - Combined Forces

Here we are then, in 2018! And it's time for the first Friday Fics Fix of the year!

In case you don't know (because the internet has a short memory, and also you might be new to Dora Reads - in which case, welcome! Please stay! Lol,) Friday Fics Fix is a weekly post where I recommend (or 'rec') a piece of fanfiction.

Basically, I started this post series because fanfiction totally counts as reading! And it should be completely counted as such! #EffTheSnobs





So with that established, let's take a look at this week's rec!

OK, I have some Star Wars for you this week - which I haven't done before, because while I like Star Wars, it's not like my be-all-and-end-all. And I know people take Star Wars pretty seriously!

OK, so December for me was actually super-super-hectic, but it came with Christmas at the end, so I really can't be mad at it! Lol.

OK, I know it was Stucky last week, but this is my blog dammit!

Plus I'm currently typing this in the spare quarter of an hour or so that I have free today, while playing my 'getting sh** done' playlist, which contains copious amounts of rock and heavy metal

(Because if anything can get me through this week, it's Avenged Sevenfold and Stone Sour! Lol, I'm so busy and so freaking tired! *laughs slightly hysterically*)

Friday Fix Fics - Hate To Twist Your Mind

Fanfiction is hyped up on emotion.

No, really. I reckon that's why it's such good bibliotherapy - all the emotions are right there, on the ever-loving surface, just waiting to be processed.

We even invented 'all the feels!' as a catchphrase for pretty much all fandom, for God's sakes!

Friday Fics Fix- Batty Allen

So, I saw Justice League this week.

It's quite good, actually.

Not great, no, but not as terrible as a butt-tonne of critics would have you believe (though I could tell them exactly what needs editing in that first section to tighten that baby the f**k up.)*

Still, Ben Affleck and Gal Godot are not my favouritest** people for reasons of sexual harassment and Zionism respectively, but I love Diana, and Batman's Batman, so there you have it.

*Nope, no coffee. This is actually me on Diet Coke and an emotional rollercoaster of a week (Yay!)

Since we're still in October, and on Friday 13th t'boot, I figured we'd give another roll to the Harry Potter dice.*

If it saves me from the Halloween pumpkin sex fics I kept coming across last year, I'm all for it. (Never search for seasonal fics. Ever. I made that mistake again at Easter... *shudders*)

Friday Fics Fix - Because You're Mine

Since it's October - y'know, witchy and spoopy time and all - what's better than some Harry Potter?

This is a fic I came across about Harry being asexual, and how, yes, he can be ace and still in a relationship with Ginny!

(Because fanfiction is going to save the ever-loving world dammit!!! The future is coming!!!!! *ahem* No, really. I'm fine.)

But then, that's life I suppose! Still, it was my birthday month, so there's that at least ;)

Friday Fics Fix - B-A-B-Y Baby

Something a li'l different for you this week my nerdlets!

This week I've got a fic based on the awesome film Baby Driver - if you haven't seen it, it's pretty damned cool!

For those not in the know (or in need of a reminder,) Baby Driver is about a getaway driver called Baby who plays music (LOUD) on a semi-permanent basis to drown out his tinnitus (and the whiny bank robbers he works with.)

August. Yeah, August...

August, for me, was stressful.

My 88-year-old grandfather was very unwell and ended up in hospital, he's better now but we still have to do a lot to make sure he and my grandmother are safe, happy, and as healthy as they can be.
