Month In Review(s) - June 2020

June 2020. Somehow we're only half-way through 2020... which is... interesting.

We're still more-or-less on Lockdown here in Wales, though we're slowly easing things - so as of 6th July, we formed a social bubble with my brother, which meant we could hug him and everything.

Anyways, I had an OK month, although I did have a migraine, and hayfever, and a few bad Depression days... but I'm still here, still standing, still writing slightly rambley blogposts! 😊

Speaking of my blogposts - I once again posted zero reviews this month, and had one of my regular existential crises re: this blog.

(Not to be confused with my regular existential crises re: writing, Queerness, productivity, the meaning of life, etc. etc. etc.)

The typical, really: does my blog have enough bookish content? Can I even call it a book blog? Am I somehow misleading people by posting about other topics on here?

I go through these crises way too often.

And I just have to remind myself that Dora Reads is my blog, and I've never fit in too well with narrow definitions.

That I do have book reviews in-progress, it's just that I've had a lot of work deadlines that've meant I haven't had the time to finish them.

And, above all, that Dora Reads is about reading - rather than 'just' books. Similar concepts, but not exactly the same.

So yeah, I'm still gonna call myself a Book Blogger, because that's what the online bookish people with blogs call ourselves.

But I'm the Bookish Rebel, and I blog about reading, and content based on reading, and whatever other stuff takes my fancy, right here on Dora Reads.

...now if only I could remember that for more than like, half an hour, before I start to questions it again!

  1. You can call yourself a book blog, a comics blog, a kickass discussion posts blog, I would still love it all the same, Cee!

In all seriousness though, I do have those types of blogging existential crises myself. Whenever I want to write a post that is not bookish, I have to remind myself: "this is your blog, and you are passionate about this topic, so you should write about it." Am I going to make another blog just to talk about a non-bookish topic? No! So you do you <3

    1. Em, you are a real sweetheart - thank you! :) <3

Ha, you write way more bookish content/posts than I do, so I really wouldn't worry about it Em! XD (I know, easier said than done! <3 )

  2. Who to say that is has to be on topic for your blog. It your blog, write what you want on whatever topic you wish. If it Bookish fine, if it not okay with me. You could just tell yourself it a review blog and that okay too.

By the way, there is a pandemic going on still.. It getting worse and worse. i hope you and your family stay safe. Come on by and check out my blog or blog post https://nrcbooks.blogspot.com/2020/07/monthly-wrap-up-june-2020.html

  3. June was a month of missing out on all the things we'd been looking forward to since the beginning of the school year. We've missed end of school parties, graduations, weddings, picnics, and more. But, I'd rather miss them than get ill or worse. Blogs are all individual, just like the people who run them, so there is no definition to be tied to. Glad you are able to see your brother again--still missing extended family here.

    1. That sucks. But so true - I would never forgive myself if I didn't do everything to try and stop the spread.

Thanks! :) Me and definitions have some issues! ;)

Hopefully it'll be safe enough for you to see family soon! <3
